what i've been watching on youtube recently...

1. music video: imogen heap - goodnight and go [the song used for the Leopard feature videos on Apple's website. really nice song, and the video's pretty interesting as well.]

2. review by New York Times' David Pogue: Apple iPhone [more than just a review... it's pretty comical and funny, but still informative.]

3. music video: amy winehouse - rehab [poking fun at lindsay & britney?]

4. home video: new iPhone, and the queue, by davidjr.com [people in the queue... waiting for the big, usb2.0 iPhone]

5. line-rider video: Jagged Peak Adventure [line rider videos are always interesting... aren't they?]

6. music video: Imogen Heap - Just For Now (live at Studio 11 103.1FM [this is how you can make music solo... but still sound professional...]

my rant on mac vs pc...

think i should start a series on my rant on mac-pc wars...

macs are pcs...

macs run os x...
dells, acers, hp, asus, etc runs xp...
dells, zambus, mythtv, etc run linux...

they're all 'personal computers'...

pcs...

so, i think we should put macs as the sub-group of pcs...

so under pcs, there's a few kinds... macs, dells, linux-boxes, acers, etc...

now, i think windows, linux, and os x need to inter-operate a bit better...

we've reached state one in this direction so far... most files can run on d diff platforms... most open-source programmes too...

but what about the non-open source stuff?

microsoft office.... the best is only on vista...

the internet browser world... everything seems to work only on IE... that's not right...

IE is shrinking in market share, people... please support the macs and linux... support firefox... [or macromedia flash]

seriously... want money? want everyone who may use ur stuff to try ur stuff? give everyone d chance... support everyone...

Getting kinda bored about life...

lots has been happening in school...

none of it was exciting...

none i wanna talk about on this blog...

so it's the week of silence on the blog i guess...

k whatever.... just listen to the Apple Phone Show...

iPhone prices rant...

i have a rant...

why does the iPhone price be equally expensive out of the box as the PS3?

the PS3 is so much more useable and ppowerful...

I don't get it...

and at least PS3 blu-ray stuff are optional, not compulsory, though expensive...

the data plans for the iPhone are insane!

I mean sure... US$59.99 per month. Yeah, I'll pay that... [pukes]

then again, it is data plan...

and you are getting a high-end top-of-the-line iPod Video... + a low-end camera phone, a mini Safari tablet, and a portable Apple TV, with only a total of 4GB / 8GB of storage... and pretty good battery life [or so we were told]

the conspiracy theories are flying all around...

I'm waiting till June 29 2008...

that's the day I predict SingTel or Starhub or M1 will roll out iPhone... [Vodafone seems quite likely to sell iPhones with their international penetration, so I guess M1 will sell it.]

da ron files summer hiatus!

every once in a while, I go on a blogging hiatus.

Well, it's that time of the [insert a period of time here] again!

Yes, I may not be blogging very frequently these few days / weeks [depending on how long the hiatus will be.]

Why?

Well, I may not have the time to blog.

Tomorrow [Thursday, 7 Jun 07], I may be in school the entire day. [Chemistry Class, PA Inventory stock-taking]
Friday [Friday, 8 Jun 07], I will be having Chem class, then I have to finish packing

'coz that night, It's "Arrivederci Singapour and Buongiorno Italiano & Gelato!"

Yes, people, that means "Good bye, Singapore and Hello Italian & Gelato"... Yum... gelato... the universal Italian meaning of highly sugared ice cream... d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s...

So, While i'm gone, I'll be taking snaps and hopefully hoping onto others' Wifi when i'm there and uploading the cool stuff I found at the Biennale and all around Italy!

But I won't be bringing my Mac along...

So, you may just have to wait...

keep on waiting...
so, just for you to try & figure out, here's 2 signatures. Go Figure!

furious...

i'm furious.

I'm utterly enraged by the recent introduction of new MacBook Pro upgrades with 802.11n, LED backlight, DX10 Graphics, 2GB RAM [max is now 4GB and not my 2GB or the previous 3GB].

The prices dropped by $100 for the particular model which I supposedly bought. [the better 15.4" model... the one in the middle]

Curse Apple Inc. ...

I hope the new MacBook Pros overheat. I hope the Graphics card consume loads of energy, weakening the battery life...

I shall cool off my anger by looking at iPhone ads with AT&T logos at the back.

My Wishlist for OS X Leopard...

What I wish Steve Jobs will add to Leopard...

1. Windows programmes will run without a hitch in OS X, thanks to the "Bill & Steve collaboration". [Windows viruses, anyone?]

2. OS X will have a UI that looks better than Vista, but at the same time, save tremendous amount of processing power. No Pixel Shaders required!

3. iLife is packaged into Leopard.

4. Dock 2.0. I hate the current dock.

5. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD support. Yes, I used the word 'and', not 'or'.

6. a better "Preview"... one that allows me to add captions or text onto pictures! For crying out loud, why can't I add captions?!

7. .mac comes free with Leopard!

8. Front Row will have a YouTube section! Just like Apple TV!!!

9. Video capturing for iSight included in Photo Booth! I know iMovie can do that, but I want things to be easier!

10. Use your iPod as a remote! How awesome would that be?

11. In Boot Camp: Use your Apple remote for Media Centre. It's about time...

12. Security: Add a virus scanner to Leopard!

A child is born... [that's my nephew]

Got an sms this morning from my eldest bro this morning...

i'll just paraphrase & translate to you to get to the point...

"At 8.22AM [GMT+0700, so that's 9.22AM S'pore time], Kennard Allensky Liong, weighing in at 3,485kg and of height 52cm, was born into this world. With love, Robert [my bro], Yuliana [my sis-in-law], and Richard Axel Liong [my other nephew]."

So, What can I say?

"Yay!!! I'm an ageing uncle! Yet AGAIN!"

You know, this feels like hangovers... the first one is always more fantastic than the second, coz you know there's not much to say about second stuffs...

But anyway, congrats to my bro & sis-in-law... [But what's up with the Russian name?]

reply to posts on my tagboard

haven't done one of these bulk post replying thing in ages...

Anyway, here are the posts and replies!

2 Jun 07, 22:57
Deci: ronald, i kinda prefer yr old skin...and plzchange the pic of yrself...its horrible...seriusly..i'd rather u take yrself smiling than giving tt dumb look...
My reply: My explanation to the new skin coming up... and sure, I will change my picture every once in a while... But have you seen me smile after lunch? and since this is the holidays, that means it's "germ germinating season"... so, you can imagine...

2 Jun 07, 22:59
Deci: heck, bensee and stingray went to the IT show too...
My reply:Yeah, I heard. But anyway, I also went with Zexun and Chen Lin [Zexun's band senior, my former senior in 2 ways, whole other discussion].

3 Jun 07, 13:12
LRY: ronald smiles?
My reply: I smile when I want people to see my teeth, which was common before I got braces...

3 Jun 07, 13:59
Raymond: deci, u 4got lum
My reply: err, raymond, make things clear when u post.... do you mean that Timothy went with you to PC Show, or do you mean that Tim smiles? i'm really confused...

3 Jun 07, 20:10
daniel: tha'ts nice to know. how's school? i hear you're talking an extra subject!
My reply: extra subject? no larh... just 2 electives, and im not d only one... there's d new guy who came after u [John], Atticus, and maybe more...

Ok, now my reply to why I changed my blog skin...

I have to manage quite a few blogs. ronfiles, ronfilesgallery, and now, the 3sa class blog.

I was thinking that I should keep my blogs' templates simple and standardised such that I will not have a mental burden with being able to single-handedly correct my own codes.

Ok, that was very technical, but the point is, I don't want to use my own code for all my blogs. If my code has a fault somewhere, I have to find it and correct it.

I'm not exactly the most "free" person in blog land... so, i have decided to push my codes aside and settle for Blogger's standard blog skins.

Why? well,
1, i don't need to touch HTML codes that often anymore when I want a design change.
2, my blog has fewer compatibility errors on the various browsers. I think Ren Yuan will agree with me that my code was horrendous enough to mess up his Internet Explorer web browser... And I wouldn't know since I'm on a Mac, running Vista only once every month.
3, this skin makes addition of gadgets n widgets a lot easier. If you remember, I was having a hard time adding a "imeem" playlist widget on d previous skin. Now, with a dedicated sidebar, I can add that back.

By the way, for those who complain my blog looks horrendous, did you try stretching your browser window to a slightly wider format? It will look a lot better. I know that because I am using a Widescreen laptop, and I stretch my windows until I reach visual nirvana.

I hope my essay is good enough a reason to change to Blogger's standars skin. Please be understanding and just bear with it. After all, a blog is supposed to be about the blog posts. Its content.

Don't make blogging another American Idol, where hair matters more than the singing. [stares at Sanjaya].

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience, and I hope you will be kind and understanding.

While i'm at the apologies, I will be gone from 8 Jun 07 to 18 Jun 07 on my school's Art trip to Italy. And after that, I will again be gone from 19 Jun 07 to 24 Jun 07 on vacation in Indonesia with my family.

Also, I'ld like everyone to pray for a smooth delivery as my sis-in-law gives birth to baby number 2... Yes, I'm already an uncle, and yes, My eldest bro's married, and Yes, m eldest bro is 27 this year, with my sis-in-law born 1 month later only.

If all goes fine, the Caesarian operation should be on 5 Jun 07, my sis-in-law's 27th Birthday.

Talk about a mom and her son being born on the same date, 27 years apart...

shopping spree?

went to PC show today with Chen Lin and Zexun..

Zexun bought a heck load of stuff... router, Wifi card, mice, onion rings, and HDD... o, and a BK meal with onion rings...

kinda lame, i guess... all d stuff there's not "my cup of tea"...

no Mac stuff...

I wish for Singaporeans and other Asians to acknowledge the fact that the Mac is gaining market share and that they should have a MacWorld for Macs as there are for PCs which are inferior computers as compared to the Nokia Nseries Multimedia Computers and Macintosh Computers. We have discussed this for decades, now move on. Asians must keep up with the time... So must hackers...

well, anyways, zexun got his WoW, i owe him $1.70, and i bought 3 albums.

Hayley Westenra's "(Celtic) Treasure"
Timbaland's "(Timbaland Presents) Shock Value"
Maroon 5's "It Won't Be Soon Before Long"

i hate complicated titles and very fragile CD cases [stares at Timbaland's album]{yeah... it broke on me}

But, i must say, Maroon 5, i just love what you did with your album... very solid and sturdy CD case...

why am i reviewing CD cases?

btw, Westenra, your songs sound so sweet. but strange surname, i must say... very rare in Asia...
