Run! From Wan Tho Avenue to Bishan Park

"Practicing for Cross Country"... ya right.

My 4.2K run from my home, via Potong Pasir MRT, via Potong Pasir Avenue 1, all the way to Bishan Park, within 30min. All this thanks to "OK Go" guiding my pace along the way!

Yes, I kind-of got tired towards the end, but hey, not bad, eh? half an hour...

First run since I recovered from my throat inflammation. Let's see how far I'll go!

Oh, review of the Nike+ iPod kit:

better get the Nike+shoes, compatible armband, and something to make you earbuds stick. Oh, don't forget some nice clothes. ESPECIALLY THE PANTS! My shorts were so loose, the pockets kept swinging because I had my wallet, Razr, and the iPod in them. so irritating...

Oh, once you're in Bishan Park, walk down a bit more, until you reach Street 23 Blk 237. There's a shop that's pretty well-hidden in the CD shelter there. Get some refreshments there if you're running to Bishan Park. 80c for chilled canned drinks, 70c for 500ml chilled distilled water. pretty cheap. you'll have to walk down some creepy stairs. If you come across it, you're on the right track.

I'm chilling for now... Torch Relay!!!

This time, Im more random.

1. Do you miss Ernest Quek?

Erm, no, coz I go to school with him, and he's a duck. Nobody misses a duck, unless you own them, and they run away from you.

2. How would Aaron Chua insult Isaac Wong?

Erm, I thought things happen the other way around? Anyway, I guess he would just poke Isaac? or maybe slap him, JY-style?

3. If you could do anything with Isaac Wong, what would it be?

Play scissors, paper, stone on a kayak in the middle of the arctic ocean, just to see who can last longer.

4. Who does Ernest Quek like?

Melvin Gan. And Ducks. BenSee said he has a duck as a girlfriend.

5. Do you miss Tan Zexun?

[copies, pastes, and edits]

Erm, no, coz I go to school with him, and he's a hamster. Nobody misses a hamster, unless you own them, and they run away from you. Or if they get squashed. Or if they freak out.

6. Does Jasper Yee make you hot?

NO! YUCKS!!!! [*pukes]

7. Raymond Liew suddenly knows all your secrets. What do you have to say about that?

No, he doesn't.

8. Describe Ernest Quek in five words.

short, arty, believer, quackery, joker

9. What is or would be a good nickname for Aaron Chua?

"Ms Chua's son". no larh.... erm.... dancer? Muthu? ah-Chua?

10. What's Tan Zexun to you?

A hamster-gerbil-panda cross-breed gone flutist. A fellow photographer who gives good insight. A fellow geek. [can't deny that...]

Second set for the post... This is going to be very random. See why...

1. What song could be Apple's theme song?

"New Soul" by Yael Naim, "1234" by Feist, "Goodnight and Go" by Imogen Heap, "Exodus Honey" by Honeycut. Quite a lot, actually...

2. What would you do if you hadn't met Microsoft?

I'ld have had an iBook as my first computer, and I would have started programming on Xcode by now...

3. What was your first impression of Nintendo?

A kiddo's company.

4. What is or would be a good nickname for Family Guy?

The show that's created by manatees who do not fear terrorism... because they are insensitive to feelings.

5. Ever slept in the same room with Canon?

Seriously? Every night, since my cameras are Canon. But not on the same bed.

6. Who is Apple's best friend?

Quite a lot, actually. Starbucks? Google? Nike? Microsoft? Intel?

7. What's Steve Jobs's opinion on cheese?

We, at Apple, can make a revolutionary cheese that holds all your music and videos in something that looks so good, and feels so nice in your hand. Something light, portable, and flame-retardant-free. Made of a recyclable material.

8. What musical instrument would Apple most likely play?

Garageband has a guitar as its logo, Guitar Hero 3 on a Mac, I'll say electric. Or how about a wireless keyboard? get it?

9. Who does Sony like?

Sony likes proprietary locked ecosystem where everything is Sony, and everyone pays them money fro useless junk. "Blu-ray is the future and the present. Believe it, my comrades.", says this Communist dictator. He likes Blu-ray, PS3, Memory Stick, Sony Ericsson phones, Walkmans, Vaios, alphas, Cybershots, handycams, lawsuits, BMG, MPAA, RIAA, Spiderman, the number 3, Bravias, and most of all, trademarks.

10. Who does Earth like?

The Sun, moon, and most of all, itself. [he doesn't like the ticks inhabiting it, adding pollution and giving it a dirty look.]

Meme-Generator: Aaron to Clement

Thanks to BenSee for the idea. [shucks, why the heck am i copying him left and right? I might as well change my blogskin while i'm at it!]

In this batch of questions, I used the first ten names in my links list [from "Aaron" to "Clement"]. More to come...

1. Can Clement be bad influence?
Erm, yes?

2. Alvin Kang is actually Clement in disguise, you know.
ORLY?! well, they're kinda similar. [damn, this generator is good...]

3. What's your fondest memory of Brannigan?
erm, none, really, since I don't know him too well yet? AFGM training, i guess?

4. Who does Bryan James Wong like?
his Bro! Aaron Chua!

5. What song could be Bryant Chan's theme song?
wow, i really don't know. haven't talked to him in ages...

6. Who would be a better superhero sidekick between Ben Lan and Aaron Chua, and why?
Ben Lan can fly planes, Aaron can wrestle. Well, I can't take both, since ..... I'll take Aaron, just 'coz he's got a better "defence area". Ben needs more food.

7. What's Bryan James Wong's opinion on cheese?
If ManU loves them, he loves it too.

8. If Clement were to be mistaken for a celebrity, who would it be?
*puked. erm, none in mind, actually.

9. Who would win in a duel, Bryan Lim or Bryant Chan? And what kind of duel would they pick, anyway?
erm, Bryan has a clarinet, while Bryant does fencing. [good thing this is a blog, not a podcast.] I'll say Bryant, just because he should be more agile with all that fencing, and since he's older.

10. What would you do without Brannigan?
Make fun of Aaron Chua even more? No link, actually, but that's my guess.

that was kinda odd...

My Favs from GH3 thus far...

I've only played till "Stage 6: Hottest Band On Earth" on Guitar Hero 3, but there's already so many awesome tracks, I think I should make a list!

The order goes as follows: The first two tracks [Kaiser Chiefs' "Ruby" and Superbus' "Radio Songs"] are songs from the Store in the Career Mode. Their difficulty is negligible, so they go first. After these two, the rest are arranged by their stage. I tried to be fair by picking one song from each stage, including unlockables and encore pieces for each stage.

If you haven't played Guitar Hero 3 before, I highly recommend you get to someone's house and friggin try it now! You won't regret it, unless your finger-eye coordination is beyond help, then too bad.

SeeqPod - Playable Search

full list of tracks here.

Before BenSee Kills...

I've always enjoyed Norah Jones.

She's got a very suitable voice for the Jazz genre.

It's just that I don't necessarily like all her songs. [Jazz is not "completely" my sup of tea, just as Top40 isn't.]

but i've been listening to this track: "Sunrise", on Ben See's blog.

Hence, I decided to add a little bit of Norah Jones to my playlist.

enjoy!

P.s.: I removed the theme from my playlist. Just because I can.

P.s.s.: play through all the songs in the Seeqpod list. You may be surprised with what I added. Don't miss it. Hint: It's Toxic!

What I want...

  • To read more...
  • To get new spectacles [my current one is no longer "sutable for wearing"]
  • iPod touch software upgrades...
  • Stephen Colbert's audiobook "I Am America (And So Can You)"
  • Jason Mraz's upcoming album "We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things"
  • A Lensbaby 2.0 lens.
  • An ExpoDisc White Balancing disc.
  • A something to get stubborn dust of my 30D's sensor filter...
  • did i mention "To read more..."? I was referring to two things: Music Theory, and the Book of Revelations [I read things from back to front, so that's why I start with Revelations, and for some reason, I always spell "Revelations" as "Revalations". Bad habit, i guess?]
  • To live through till the last day of Earth [just for fun]
  • To start taking piano lesosns.
  • To hit 2,000,000 in the career mode on Guitar Hero 3 [I just hit 1,000,000]
  • To pass a song in Guitar Hero 3 on Medium [I'm stuck on "Easy". Medium is too tough.]
  • To eat more fruits [just realised how rarely I enjoy fruits this year...]
  • To cut down on cakes and pastries. [includes, but not limiting to, egg tarts, donuts, cheesecakes, etc]
  • To develop an iPhone App [but not get it on the App Store, coz i refuse to pay US$99 for the Dev programme. Just trying out on the free SDK.]
  • To learn a bit more on electricity, and tehn to ground my bloody 2-pin-plugged external HDD. [Unless I charge my laptop, the MacBook Pro's case will always give me a shock. not pleasant.]
  • To be neutral in electrostatic charges.
  • To finish the musical and then take a break from choir pracs in July [finally.]
  • To finish my Electrolysis ws, Broader Perspectives mindmaps, and HCL essays, all of which are at least 2 weeks and at most 2 months overdue.
  • To sleep early. Damn, it's late.
  • To break the monotony of repetition. Saying "Damn it" over and over and over again = getting lame...

There's no need to complicate [by changing the friggin syllabus and exam schedule again]
Our time is short [yeah, like how many weeks left?]

NEW this week: Seeqpod

Yes, folks. I'm starting to move over to Seeqpod, just because they feature faster streaming speeds, and most importantly, complete, full songs.

Let me know what you think!

Featured song:Puppini Sisters: Walk Like An Egyptian

Get this song on iTunes for free!

I don't think this is an original, but it certainly sounds cool, adding a Jazzy touch to a song from the 80's...

Album and gifts Galore!!!

Forgot to blog about some stuff from the past school term...

firstly, thanks to Ernest, Zexun, Jack, Nigel Lee, Mysterious guy, and anyone else whom I may have forgotten for the air-blower for my birthday present! Just what I needed! and thanks for all the well-wishes and birthday greetings! Besides, it's not the lateness that matters. It's the thought that counts!

secondly, I've been on a album-buying rampage these few days...
Just bought Radiohead's "In Rainbows" and Corrine Bayley Rae's self-titled album on 1 March 08.
Then, on the 9th, I bought Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through The Static", OneRepublic's "Dreaming Out Loud", and "Desperate", a new album by Daphne Khoo, former Singapore Idol contestant from the first Idol competition.

Then, in a surprised addition to the above list of 5 albums, Ms Gan gave me a very cool album as my birthday present on Monday. Yeah, it's belated, but who cares? She gave me an Album titled "Nos Rêves", by "Les Petits Chanteurs De Saint-Marc" [Direct Translation: The Small Singers of Saint-Marc]. You probably never heard of the choir before, but you probably heard their singing before. That's because this choir was the choir responsible for the tracks behind Les Choristes, the movie. It's pretty cool, and I'm liking it.

connections...

what connects us?

Many often say that we are all connected by life and death. We are given birth to by our mother, and we eventually die.

But is there more to that to life?

I feel that the world is intertwined. We are all linked in more ways than we ever thought of.

In Denial...

It's March...

I'm losing my sanity.

My cerebellum appears to be damaged by my bout of high fever last month [around my B'day]

I appear to have gained back my ability to remember stuff and do basic mental math calculations again...

But my vocabulary is constricted...

I am screwed for My O Levels...

Here I come!

Wednesday, 5 March 2008

It's March.

Days to 'O's:

224 Days to the first written paper [for me, which will be ART]

160 to 173 Days to first 'O' Level non-SPA-related exam (for me: EL Oral Paper) [in August]

SUM of LAST 2 digits of 224: 2+4 = 6

MIDDLE digit of 160 = 6

DIFFERENCE of FIRST 2 digits in 173 = 7-1 = 6

Get the number?

What I want in my next MacBook Pro

I'm probably going to be stuck on Mac OS X for the long run, so might as well just make the prediction that I'll buy a new MacBook Pro in the near future...

Anyway, since I have weird spending problems when it comes to Macs, I might as well bar myself from buying a new mac until most if not all of the things I list below appear in an updated Mac...

In order from most wanted to 'not really a must, but quite cool if it's there'.

1. BD-RE Drive. like, who doesn't want?!

2. New Design / Chassis. yawn to the current new MBPs. REFRESH THAT DESIGN! It's 4 years old, for goodness sake.

3. 4 USB 2.0 Ports. More is always necessary.

4. Wireless USB [final spec. not some draft] -> 480Mbps of wireless connetivity... Don't tell me Bluetooth is out there. Bluetooth is just a baby compared to Wireless USB.

5. Lower Heat: lower than 30Celcius on the exterior in terms of temperature. Lower that heat.

6. Comparative Speed improvement of 450% over the 2.16GHz Core Duo that I'm using, and 500% over my underclocked ATI Mobility Radeon X1600. [by Moore's Law, this should occur by 2009]

7. Battery life rating of 5.5hrs intermittent wifi use. Will be cool, i guess.

8. eSATA slot. It's faster for External HDDs to connect over eSATA than USB or FireWire.

9. new keyboard: more like the MacBook, MacBook air, and the wired / wireless keyboards: more spaces between keys!

10. larger trackpad, smaller left-click button.

11. Touchscreen.

12. DDR3 RAM support, and hopefully a cap increase up to 8GB of RAM.

13. OS X 10.6 Lynx.

14. iLife '09

15. 500GB 5400rpm HDD. Oh, maybe an option for 256GB or even 512GB SSD.

16. upgraded speakers.

17. REDUCED: Thickness of the dream MacBook Pros: flat 2cm or 0.78". That's "MacBook Air-ish".

18. 1920x1080 native resolution screen. It's currently 1440x900. what's another 480x180?

19. Hookless magnetic latch. I think mine's damaged.

20. an upgraded iSight camera. Not important, but it'll be nice to have 2MP on a laptop.

Apple, Hope you're looking!

Leap day rules. obey them.

Why We Have Leap Days

Summary:
What to do to figure out if it’s a leap year or not:
We add a leap day every 4 years, except for every 100 years, except for every 400 years. In other words…

If the year is divisible by 4, then it’s a leap year, UNLESS
it’s also divisible by 100, then it’s not a leap year, UNLESS FURTHER
the year is divisible by 400, then it is a leap year.
