What it is?
It's basically a website that can help you shorten URL links.
How?
Give them the URL you want to shorten, let's say,
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=277841159
And they'll give you this URL
http://tinyurl.com/5qy6zg
When you click on that shortened link, it will redirect you to the URL you gave to them!
Best of all, it's free, it doesn't require a login, and you can post that shortened link anywhere!
It's convenient for the Twitter services or MSN nicknames, where you're only allowed a limited number of characters.
Now, the only downside is that if some idiot were evil enough, they could technically pass you a tinyurl link which redirects you to a phishing site, porn site, etc. you get the idea. It can be used for nefarious purposes, so be aware.
